Project would assist with the establishment for Economic Policy Analysis Unit (EPAU) to enhance State's capacity to analyze impact of agricultural policies on rural development. This unit would operate from PCU and advise the Agriculture Production Commissioner on future policy directions to address the changing needs of State's rural sectors. EPAU would also develop capacity to critically evaluate public expenditures in agriculture with a view making recommendations on improving the efficiency of investments being made using public resources. The initial focus of its work programme, however, would be to assess the impact of the policy reform programme being supported under the project.
